Norway has contributed NOK 3 million (USD 528,000) (Rs. 57 million) to IOM to support the socio-economic reintegration of former Tamil Tiger (LTTE) cadres in Sri Lanka.
"We need to help these people to return home and start new lives. The IOM programme will provide them with a foundation from which they can start new livelihoods and rebuild their lives," said Norwegian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Hilde Haraldstad.

IOM prepares Eritrean refugees for resetlement to Norway.

Oslo, 15/08/2011 - Norway has accepted to resettle approximately 200 Eritreans from Sudan; mainly from the camps in the Kassala area. The refugees have now undergone a week long preparation programme in Khartoum aiming to ease their adoption to life in Norway. The Ambassador and visa officer Nuha Mohamed met the refugees last Thursday.

IOM Oslo's Outreach Seminar: Voluntary Return and migration management.

Oslo, 28/03/2011 - IOM's voluntary return programme VARP was the main topic during the seminar "Voluntary Return and Migration Management", organized at  Sagene Internasjonale og Flerkulturell Frivillighetssentral (SAIFF), on march 24. The participation of diverse migrant organizations, NGOs, norwegian authorities and migrant media; along with IOM Staff was a decisive factor for the success of the seminar.

IOM Oslo interview in Radio Latinamerika.

Oslo - Jorge Rebolledo Gee, Outreach Assistant from IOM's Oslo mission, as a part of the Outreach activities in the media, visited Radio Latinamerika and gave an interview in Spanish where he informed about the different programmes that IOM develops in Norway, the information activities toward the migrant comunities and associations and about the new hot-line that IOM Norway has available for the voluntary return services: 800 - frivillig retur
