What is IRRINI?
The Information, Return and Reintegration of Iraqi Nationals to Iraq (IRRINI) programme is offered for Iraqi asylum seekers or those with refugee status / permanent residence permit, who wish to return from Norway to Iraq voluntarily. The programme provides comprehensive return and reintegration options, which are organized, humane, safe and dignified.
Services offered under IRRINI
In Norway the following free services will be provided within the framework of the programme:
Information and individual counseling
- Assistance in getting a travel document, if necessary
- Transportation within Norway, flights to the country of origin
- Assistance at the airport on departure and in transit
In Iraq, after arrival the following free services will be provided:
- Reception at the airport by IOM staff including border and customs processing
- Provision of medical assistance if needed
- Information and counseling about the reintegration services available and other information relevant for your reintegration into your home community
- Information about Business Innovation Programs (BIP) course in establishing one’s own business, if desired (www.bips.no)
- Information about Governmental, international and local NGOs and UN programmes that can be relevant to you upon return
- One-night temporary accommodation if unable to reach your final destination on the day of arrival in Iraq
- Onward transportation to final destination (requested in advance)
The reintegration assistance includes:
Reintegration allowance of 10 000 NOK for Iraqi asylum seekers (to be paid by IOM Iraq in cash)
- Reintegration allowance of 15 000 NOK for Iraqi nationals with Norwegian residence permit or refugee status (to be paid by UDI in Norway)
- In-kind support of 25 000 NOK per person which can be invested towards one of the three options below:
- Set up a business
- Education or vocational training support
- Employment salary subsidy
- In addition, based on different targeting criteria, the following additional options are available:
- Housing allowance
- Vocational training
Consistent follow-up by IOM Iraq to monitor reintegration progress.
